DOCUMENT #1070 INN-FORM/XL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (1) Pin connections to the remote port of the INN-FORM XL. Note: the "T" "C" switch will reverse (NULL) Transmit/Receive on #2,#3 of the remote port. It will configure the port as "DCE" or "DTE" If the cable plugged into the report is connected to an active com port the transmit signal from the remote device will cause the green LED next to the switch to light the XL will transmit on the opposite pin. Switch on "C" (DCE) Switch on "T" (DTE) pin #2 = recieve pin #2 = transmit pin #3 = transmit pin #3 = recieve pin #7 is signal ground pin #7 = signal ground pin #20 is DTR pin # 20 = DTR (usually not connected) (usually not connected) (2) Checking the remote port on an INN-FORM/XL PMS System. Using the call accounting system connections, plug the connector marked "Printer" into the remote port. With the "T" "C" switch on the back of the system in the "T" position. The green light on the back of the Unit should go on. On the INN-FORM/XL PMS systems that use ACK/NAK protocol if both pieces of equipment are connected and communicating correctly the call accounting will print a one line call record to the printer. If the property management system is not responding, the call accounting will print a 3 to 4 line chit including all the call record information. (3) Can the remote port going to the property management system be at a different baud rate than the baud rate set up between the switch, the call accounting system and the printer? A different baud rate on the remote port is not possible on the old systems. Release 12.723 and below are considered older systems. On the new systems with a release number of 12.8 and above, it is possible to enter a baud factor that tells the unit the baud rate of the remote and printer ports when they are different. See page IV-10 in the manual for the chart that shows baud factors representing possible baud rate combinations. (4) The INN-FORM/XL PMS is beeping. The display does not say; "Fix Printer". When the reset button is pressed the beeping stops and the system works for a while. Later the beeping starts again. The printer is fine and the property management system is receiving call record information except when the system beeps. Check the connection to the property management system. If pin #20 is connected from the call accounting system, disconnect it. The pin #20 connection could be pulling the call accounting system's pin #20 low and causing it to go into alarm. (5) If the property management system requires a hardware handshake the suggested handshake for a standard RS232 connector is pins 4-5 and pins 6-8-20. Is is suggested the Property management vendor be contacted before installing the above straps.
