DOCUMENT #2040 PROBLEM: The INN-FORM/PLUS is beeping and saying Fix Printer and my parallel printer is plugged into the parallel port and seems to be working fine. SOLUTION: Print a program #32 and check to see that SMDR #33 is for the correct value. 1 = print to the serial port 0 = print to the parallel port PROBLEM: The INN-FORM/PLUS is giving an alarm but it does not say fix printer. SOLUTION: Check to see if the property management system is connected to pin #20 on the serial port. It is possible that the property management system is pulling pin #20 low. If that doesn't seem to be the problem, then open the slide panel on the bottom of the PLUS and make sure the black rubber jumper is on #8. This will automatically tie pin #20 to a high voltage. PROBLEM: The INN-FORM/PLUS is printing garbage. SOLUTION: This could be a Baud Rate/Protocol problem. Place the system in Mode #9. If the first line of mode 9 is garbage and the second line says: "Checking Fields Bad" then the call Accounting is communicating properly with the printer. It is the PBX that is set up at a different baud rate and protocol. The solution is to adjust the PBX to the Baud Rate and protocol that will match the INN-FORM/PLUS and the printer If the PBX cannot be adjusted then you can refer to program #26 to change the baud rate of the call accounting and Program #33 SMDR #47 to adjust the protocol. You must also adjust the switches in your printer so all three pieces of equipment are the same. If all you get is garbage to the printer adjust your printer switches to match the baud rate and protocol of the INN-FORM/PLUS. PROBLEM: The printer prints just fine for a certain number of lines and then it starts to chop up words and drop information. SOLUTION: This could be a buffer problem on the printer. Each printer has a buffer where it holds information until it is ready to print. If the buffer fills up, and the CAMS keeps sending information, the buffer overflows and the printer looses bits and pieces of words. The INN-FORM/PLUS is looking for a high clear to send signal on pin #20. If the buffer on the printer is full the printer should give a low on pin #20 and then the CAMS stops sending until it sees the high again. In this case the printer is malfunctioning and needs attention. Fix the printer! PROBLEM: The unit is printing to the printer just fine but occasionally it throws in a garbage character. SOLUTION: Possible parity problem between the INN-FORM/PLUS and the printer. Check the printer dip switches to make sure that the switches controlling parity are set for none. PROBLEM: The printer is broken and the INN-FORM/PLUS is giving a constant alarm. SOLUTION: Slide open the panel on the back of the unit and place the black rubber jumper on jump #8. Then power the unit back up and go into Program #33 and change SMDR #33 to a value of 1. This will fool the unit into thinking it has a valid print temporarily. FACT: When changing any SMRD related parameters always reset the system or the system won't recognize the changes. This can be done by pressing the red reset button on the back of the INN-FORM/PLUS.
