Document #8010 INN-SURE INSTALLATION STEPS *************************************************************** * ALWAYS FIRST MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR DISKETTES BEFORE * * PROCEEDING. YOU WILL APPRECIATE THIS STATEMENT IF YOU HAVE * * PROBLEMS WITH YOUR DISKETTES. * *************************************************************** 1. If you have a hard disk on your INN-SURE skip to #2; otherwise, insert the INN-SURE diskette into the floppy drive. 2. Power up the INN-SURE and wait until it boots to the Main Menu. 3. Highlight the "Setup Menu" and press enter. 4. Within the "Setup Menu" highlight "SMDR/PBX OPTIONS" and press enter. 5. Within "SMDR/PBX OPTIONS" highlight "LOAD PBX DEFAULTS" and press enter. This will ask you the drive you are loading the PBX disk into (which is A). 6. Load the PBX diskette into drive A and press enter. 7. When this is loaded you need to find and highlight your PBX type and press enter. This will load all the SMDR parameters to the INN-SURE. (Put your INN-SURE diskette back in drive A.) 8. When this is done highlight "SET SMDR PORT" and press enter. 9. Within this menu you need to set the Baud Rate, Parity, Databits, Stopbits and ETC. They need to be the same as your PBX. NOTE: The EOL Char: (End Of Line Character) You must know the character that your PBX puts out at the end of each call record. You can find this out by referring to the window at the bottom of the screen where the raw data is coming across the screen. It will also show it within the Diagnostic Menu. The raw data will show the actual character. You must put in the decimal value for the ASCII character. (A "heart" symbol has a decimal value of "003". A "rectangular box with a dot" has a decimal value of "010"). When you have finished the "SETUP SMDR PORT" press F10 to save and exit out to the "OUTGOING SMDR SETUP" to monitor some calls. You will need to have a record on the "Call Data" screen to perform this step. Press F6. You should see some raw data in the window. 10. By hitting the "Enter" key each time, the cursor will advance to the next item in the menu. Before we go any further, take notice of a feature that will make life easier in setting these fields. If you will advance to your date menu, you can change the starting position of the date field by pressing CTRL + [left-arrow] or [right-arrow]. If you will notice in the "Call Data" window at the bottom of the screen you will see a highlighted box. Experiment by pressing the CTRL + [left-arrow]. It will move to the left. Now do the same only CTRL + [right-arrow]. Now move to the "Len" part of the menu and try the same experiment. The length will change. Now that we know these things, we can begin aligning the different fields. Make sure that the highlighted box is covering the whole date field. Starting position at the first digit and the length long enough to highlight the whole date. Take the same idea and proceed to the time field and then the "Duration" field and etc. *Don't forget to set up the mask pattern exactly like the pattern found in the "Call Data" field. (Example--"Date" field: mm/dd/yy mm=month, dd=day, yy=year.) You need to look at the format in the "Call Data" screen. The format must be exactly the same as on the "Call Data" screen. After you have finished the setup of outgoing calls, Press F10 to Save and Exit. Do the same procedure with the "Incoming SMDR Setup" as you did the "Outgoing SMDR Setup". 11. Get back to the "Setup Menu", highlight "INN-SURE Options" and press Enter. This will take you to another selection of menus. Highlight the "Trunk Association" Menu and press enter. You need to make sure that the Trunks are identified properly. (If your trunks have two digits you need to have 00-99). Is the Card/Port matched up to the PBX Trunk Port or that is, is the Cable going to the card the way the Trunk Association menu says? If everything is true then Press F10. 12. Highlight the "Call Matching" menu and press Enter. Within this menu select one. Most people select yes for Match using Trunk + Group "Yes". Press F10 and Enter. 13. Highlight the "SMDR Adjustment" and press Enter. This selection is where you set up your answer detect format. Most people select: SMDR ADJUSTMENT UNANSWERED ANSWERED Suppress SMDR to NO MODIFY DURATION? YES YES Duration Limit: 0 Seconds MAX 60 Seconds MIN TAG OFFSET : Press F10 when you've finished. 14. You might look through Master/Slave if you have more than one INN-SURE. If you have changed the jumpers on the memory boards you'll need to run the Board settings menu to make sure the parameters are correct. This concludes the basic installation process. Now you need to do some monitoring to see if everything is performing the way it should be.
