PRODUCTS THAT WORK WELL AND LAST LONG ARE GOOD FOR BUSINESS!
Although the statement above expresses “truth” (or almost), many are willing to accept far less than this truth when we deal with others in our lives. We tell ourselves, “Oh, well! That’s just the way it is!”, and we just let it go!! It’s time for a change!! Let’s start demanding more and better!
Many provide products or services that do NOT “work well” and “last long”. Some “work okay” and “last a while”, and sometimes maybe that’s “okay”! But, in most cases we want and need better! We can analyze total “cost”, not just initial “price”! We can ask, “Will this work and do what I want, is cost good, will it rarely need service, will it take little ongoing effort, and will it last”? If products fail the questions, that’s 5 strikes and “OUT”! If 1 or 2 get a “No”, that could be acceptable. BUT, if all questions get a “Yes”, that’s a “HOMERUN”! Then, BUY it!
The first point above, “WORK WELL”, may be less important as we can afford to throw things away AND buy easily (and never see/try products w/sealed packages or internet buys, etc.). “LAST LONG” may be less important, too, with a strange twist added: many buys are for “now” only, and others, on top of planned obsolescence, now add upgrades and/or updates! The product lasts a short time, or maybe it runs well, but the world (or manufacturer) says it NEEDS big (expensive) changes to “stay alive”. Nothing seems to “LAST LONG” in these situations! (There are - sometimes - good reasons for obsolescence/updates - other than seller profits - but that’s no help when products die or demand more cash!)
